The Environment
“We will leave this forest in better shape for our children and grandchildren than it is now.” (Company President)

"Your waste control project and the efforts of your workers was remarkable." (TPM Auditor)

At Juken New Zealand Ltd our success depends on and reflects our commitment to the environment. Our customers demand it and we respond to that demand through our environmentally sensitive forestry and manufacturing processes. Our products deliver on that demand.

Not only is our very purpose environmentally friendly – replacing the use of non-sustainable hardwoods around the world with engineered and solid wood products from sustainably grown sources - we also strive for zero pollution, zero waste and zero complaints in all that we do. Ambitious targets indeed, and yet ones that we take very seriously.

In doing so we have set ourselves up to be measured and assessed against external benchmarks - the regulatory and consents environmental framework (local authority or central government), and internationally recognised environmental standards such as FSC and ISO - to demonstrate our comittment to forestry and manufacturing environmental best practice.

In our journey towards zero pollution, zero waste and zero complaints we have installed waste and pollution control systems and equipment; we re-use, re-cycle and re-work wherever possible; and we work alongside our communities. Some examples - bark is used for garden mulch, veneer peeler cores are used for pallet gluts, forestry areas of significance and endangered species are protected, wetlands have been developed for run-off and waste water, and almost all of our mill energy requirements are fuelled from wood residue (bark, sawdust, chip).

A genuine committment to ensure that we make the right impression on the environment and that our customers can feel good about our products and the processes involved in making and getting it to them.
